What is a Cookie?
A very small text file placed on your hard
drive by a Web Page server. It is essentially your identification card, and
cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. It is uniquely yours and can
only be read by the server that gave it to you.
What is the purpose of cookie?
Cookies make the interaction between users and web sites faster and easier.
Without cookies, it would be very difficult for a web site to allow a visitor
to fill up a shopping cart or to remember the user's preferences or
registration details for a future visit. Web sites use cookies mainly because
they save time and make the browsing experience more efficient and enjoyable.
Are Cookies
Dangerous to My Computer?
No. A cookie is a simple piece of text. It is not a program, or a plug-in. It
cannot be used as a virus, and it cannot access your hard drive. Your browser
(not a programmer) can save cookie values to your hard disk if it needs to, but
that is the limit of the effect on your system.
